Freshman wing Cole Eiserman has been named Hockey East Rookie of the Week after collecting a goal and an assist in the weekend series at Maine. Eiserman, who was the conference’s Rookie of the Month for October, assisted on BU’s first goal on Friday and then scored the Terriers first goal in Saturday’s tie and shootout win over the Black Bears.

The Newburyport, Mass., native, who holds the NTDP career goal-scoring record (127), previously won R-O-W honors after scoring twice in last month’s Terrier win against UConn.

Eiserman leads all Hockey East rookies in both goals (7) and points (11) and is tied for the goal-scoring lead among all conference skaters. With goals scored in six games thus far, he’s second in goals among all NCAA rookies.

Poll Story

Following their loss and tie at Maine, Terriers dropped from #11 #13 in the USCHO Division 1 Poll. The Black Bears moved up to #5. Undefeated Denver remains at #1, followed by Michigan State and BC, which lost to UConn. Minnesota sits at #4. Providence remains at #7 after splitting its series with #20 UMass. Lowell swept Vermont and stays at #15.

BU slid three spots from #13 to #16 in the USA Hockey/The Rink Inside D1 Poll. #3 BC, #6 Maine and #11 Providence are the top Hockey East teams in this ranking. Surprising Dartmouth, undefeated at 5-0-1, is #15.

Everything College Hockey pegs the Terriers at #14 and John Bucciogross's ranking has the Terriers in last spot of his Top 16.

 SNL (Saturday Night Leftovers)

BU had the edge in shots blocked Saturday, 18-13, with Brehdan Engum accounting for five. However the Terriers had a very rough night at the face off dot, losing 36 of 51 draws.

After allowing 14 goals in his previous three starts, the "reset" for Mathieu Caron that Coach Jay Pandolfo alluded to produced immediate results. The senior netminder was stellar:stopping 16 of 17 shots in the second period, keeping the deficit at one during the third, making three big saves on grade A's in overtime and perfect on four shootout attempts.

Looking ahead

The Terrier Hockey Fan Blog: NJ '06 ...

A week after 2025 recruit Jack Pridham left West Kelowna for the OHL Kitchener Rangers, his former linemate on the Warriors and fellow 2025 recruit, Callum Hughes, has made a similar move, joining OHL Erie. The 6’1”, 186, left-shot center, who is a first cousin of current Terrier Jack Hughes, had a 9-5-14 scoring line in 20 BCHL games and was tied for the West Kelowna goal-scoring lead.

Last season, Hughes, like Pridham, earned BCHL All-Rookie honors with a 23-19-42 scoring line. The Basking Ridge, N.J., native was not selected in the 2024 Entry Draft, but is eligible again in 2025. From the Elite Prospects 2024 Draft Guide:

Hughes is a lightning bolt on the ice. A straight-line advantage creator, his motor separates him from others at this level. He backs off defenders, draws penalties by tactically skating through their checks, and he’s always looking for breaks to exploit his speed advantages.

 Looking back

Macklin Celebrini scored an overtime goal to give San Jose a 5-4 win over Detroit. It was his fourth goal of the season and his first game-winner.

"It's fun to win one in overtime. We've been on the wrong side of it a couple of times, so it was nice to get that one," Celebrini said. "It was a great play by Granlund. He kind of set a pick there and I just found myself with a lot of space, and I don't know, I just tried to go low glove. I felt like he was cheating a little bit."

Here the video of Dante Fabbro first goal for Columbus, scored Saturday night against Montreal.

The 2018-19 Terrier captain also had assist Monday night in the Blue Jackets' 5-1 win against the Bruins. Charlie Coyle had the lone goal for Boston, his fourth.

 Women's Team

After splitting its series with BC--while dominating the Eagles in both games--BU (10-4-1) moved up to #13 in the USCHO Division 1 Women's Poll. Terriers also are #13 in the USA Hockey/The Rink Live Poll.

BU Hockey Stats points out that "It took BU 15 games to reach their 10th win, their fastest to reach that milestone since 2019-20, which was also 15 games."

BHB's Sam Robb O'Hagan offers an analysis of the Terriers after 15 games.

These No. 14 Terriers are officially legit, and it’s not because they can beat up on bad teams, or even because a few superstars are carrying an otherwise unremarkable roster. This is a complete cultural transformation from top to bottom. This is a team on which every kind of player from everywhere on the lineup is playing their best hockey. This is a group that can watch its Hockey East Player of the Month disappear during the biggest series of the season thus far and simply make it not matter.

After outplaying but still losing to the Eagles in overtime at Agganis Arena Friday night, the Terriers took the Green Line down to Conte Forum and squeezed their arch enemy off its own ice in a 3-1 victory Saturday, because apparently, that’s just what BU (10-4-1, 8-2-1 Hockey East) does now.
