Game Day: BU hosts Brown; Kudos for Harper & Schroeder




Following a pair of exhibition game wins, BU resumes regular-season play facing non-conference opponent Brown at Agganis Arena tonight. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. for the contest that will be live-streamed on CBS All-Access.



David Farrance and Patrick Curry each have 10 goals to lead BU, while freshman Trevor Zegras returns to the line-up after an impressive stint with Team USA in the World Junior Championships. Graduate transfer Alex Brink, who scored his first BU goal in the NTDP U18 exhibition game, will be facing his former teammates.



Sophomore Justin Jallen leads the Bruins in both goals (7) and points (9). Zach Giuttari has seven points, while Brent Beaudoin and Tony Stillwell both have six. Luke Krys, younger brother of former Terrier Chad Krys, is a freshman on Brown’s blueline. Senior goalie Gavin Nieto has a 2.94 GAA and a .906 save percentage

Patrick Harper has been named Hockey East Player of the Month for December. The senior forward scored three goals and assisted on a pair in the Terriers’ wins against Harvard and Northeastern.  A Nashville draft pick, Harper has 21 points (8G,13A) in 15 games this season and 99 career points.

Looking ahead

2021 recruit Artem Shlaine scored four goals in Shattuck St. Mary’s Prep’s 7-6 win against Nichols School at the Merrimack Showcase. The left-shot center leads SSM with 60 points (20G, 40A) in 31 games.



Looking back

John Hynes, fired as Devils head coach on December 3, is back behind an NHL bench, taking over as the Predators’ head coach. In Nashville, he’ll be reunited with Assistant General Manager Jeff Kealty, who was his Terrier teammate on the 1995 national championship team.

Hynes' tenure as Preds coach got off to a slow start, as the Bruins dominated Nashville, 6-2. Charlie Coyle scored his eighth goal and added an assist, while Matt Grzelcyk assisted on a pair of goals and Charlie McAvoy contributed one helper.

Women’s Team

Junior Corinne Schroeder was named Hockey East Goaltender of the Month for December after stopping 46 of 47 shots in the Terriers’ two-game sweep of BC. She also earned the conference monthly honor this season in October and in December 2018. Schroeder is third in D1 with a .943 save percentage and fifth with a 1.49 GAA.
