Game Day: Terriers visit Merrimack

Terriers begin second semester conference action with a visit to Merrimack. Puck drop at Lawler Rink in North Andover is at 7 p.m. for the contest that will be live-streamed on CBS All-Access.

BU, which had its three-game winning streak broken on Wednesday by Dartmouth, sits in sixth place in Hockey East (4-3-4), two points behind #5 BC, the Terriers’ opponent on Saturday.

The Warriors (5-14-2) defeated Connecticut, 6-2, in their last start, ten days ago. Senior forward Tyler Irvine leads them in both goals (8) and points (15). Sophomore Logan Drevitch and freshman defenseman Declan Carlile each have 13 points and sophomore Chase Grescock has 11.  A pair of freshmen, Jere Huhtamaa and Troy Kobryn have split the netminding duties with Huhtamaa owning four of the team’s five wins.
BU's offense is led by junior David Farrence (25 points) and senior Patrick Harper (22), both of whom have been nominated for the 2019-2020 Hobey Baker Memorial Award. Junior Logan Cockerill, injured in the third game of the season, is expected to return for this weekend's contests.

Episode 10 of Inside BU Hockey features Bernie Corbett’s interviews with Head Coach Albie O’Connell and freshman forward Wilmer Skoog. A native of Stockholm and former teammate of Hugo Blixt in Sweden, the 6’2” center joined the Terriers after spending the first half of the season with the NAHL Maryland Black Bears (15G, 18A in 24 games). Skoog has been on the scoresheet in each of the past three games, scoring a shootout goal against the NTDP U18s, the overtime game-winner against Brown and a lacrosse-style goal against Dartmouth.

2021 recruit Doug Grimes scored a pair of goals in Dexter Southfield’s 5-4 loss to Lawrence Academy.  The 6’1” forward has 9 goals and 13 assists in 14 games.

Returning to the Penticton line-up after missing 12 games with an injury, 2020 recruit Jay O’Brien assisted on the overtime game-winner in the Vees’ 2-1 win against Vernon. O’Brien is fifth in BCHL scoring with 48 points (15G, 33A).
