Game Day: Terriers visit #6 UMass


Terriers resume play with a home-and-home series against #6 ranked UMass, beginning with today’s game at the Mullins Center in Amherst. Puck drop is at 3:30 p.m. The game will air on NESN, with a CollegeSportsLive live-stream available outside of New England. The teams meet again on Monday at Walter Brown Arena at 3:00 p.m.

The Minutemen have played more games than any other Hockey East team (13) and bring a 9-3-1 record into the game. UMass boasts four of the league’s top six scorers: junior Bobby Trivigno with a conference best 18 points; Matthew Kessel with 14; Zac Jones with 13; and Carson Gicewicz with 13. Kessel’s eight goals are most for a D1 defenseman. In goal, senior Matt Murray has a 1.64 GAA and a .928 save percentage.

Senior David Farrance had five points in BU’s opening weekend split with Providence while sophomore transfer Jay O’Brien had three points.

Looking ahead

2022 recruit Devin Kaplan scored his eighth goal on a power play in the NTDP U17s’ 10-4 win against Youngstown. Fellow recruit Lane Hutson assisted on a pair of goals.

2021 recruit Brian Carrabes scored a goal and assisted on another as Sioux City completed a two-game sweep of Sioux Falls with a 6-2 win. Carrabes has 11 points (5G,6A) in his past seven games and overall 16 points in 14 games.
