While College Hockey Insider’s power rankings has the Red Raiders at #36, Mike McMahon projects Colgate will be a top-four team in the ECAC. Their line-up includes ECAC Rookie of the Year Michael Neumeier and veteran goalie Andrew Takacs. Like the Terriers, the Red Raiders played an exhibition on Sunday, defeating Union, 5-3.

BU Hockey Writer Scott Weighart's first entry of the season examines the initial sampling of the Terriers' 14 newcomers and the leadership team's efforts to integrate them into the Terrier culture.
"I think honestly we're just trying to bring along those new guys as quick as we can into our culture," [Captain Gavin] McCarthy said. "The last couple years we've done a great job of building something really special at this program. The past captains along with Pando have brought that in. We're not changing much. We've done well the past couple years. Obviously, we haven't gotten the big trophy, but I think our culture is what it needs to be, and I think we just need to grab those new guys and bring them along."

►Along with Cole Hutson earning Hockey East Player of the Week, four Terriers were named to the conference's weekly top performers list:
Cole Eiserman, BU (So., F; Newburyport, Mass.) Picked up 2025-26 where he left off last season, scoring two goals in the Terriers’ season-opening 4-2 win over LIU on Saturday. He also assisted on all three BU goals in a 3-0 exhibition win over RPI.
Ryder Ritchie, BU (Fr., F; Kelowna, B.C.) Dished out two assists in his collegiate debut, a 4-2 win over LIU, before scoring an empty net goal in a 3-0 exhibition over RPI.
Max Lacroix, BU (Jr., G, Denver, Colo.) Had 21 saves in an exhibition shutout of RPI, lifting BU to a 3-0 win
Mikhail Yegorov, BU (So., G; St. Petersburg, Russia) Made 36 saves to backstop BU to a 4-2 win over LIU on Saturday night.
BUHockeyStats' recaps both the Men's games against LIU and RPI and the Women's series with Minnesota. He points out that:
Mikhail Yegorov was stellar, stopping 36 of 38 Sharks shots. The effort matches his career high at Agganis Arena, when he also made 36 stops vs. UMass in the Hockey East Quarterfinal—coincidentally his last game at Agganis. The Terriers were a perfect 5-5 on the PK.
►SB Nation’s All About the Jersey also took note of Yegorov’s strong performance and .927 save percentage:
It’s hard not to be excited about the rise of Mikhail Yegorov, who very much seems to be on the trajectory of a future starter in the NHL. Yes, goalies are notoriously hard to predict, but Yegorov just feels different. Of course, anything could happen and this page will track his progress closely. Yegorov is in a great program in Boston University to develop under coach Jay Pandolfo.
►FloHockey.tv’s list of “25 players that will define the college hockey season” includes four Terriers: Sacha Boisvert, Eiserman, Hutson and Yegorov.
Meanwhile, The Hockey News' Ryan Kennedy posted his annual Top 100 NCAA Players to Watch that includes 10 Terriers. In addition to the four listed above, he calls out Sascha Boumedienne, Ritchie, Jack Murtagh, Owen McLaughlin, Carter Amico and Charlie Trethewey.

Four of the 18 were on the ice for the league’s opening game between Chicago and Stanley Cup Champion Florida. AJ Greer scored the Panthers first goal—he also was involved in the season’s first fight—and Evan Rodrigues assisted on the game-winner in a 3-2 Florida victory. For Chicago, Ryan Greene skated on the fourth line with 8:07 of ice time, while recently-signed Matt Grzelcyk skated on the Blackhawks first defense pair.
The Rangers, under new head coach Mike Sullivan, dropped a 3-0 decision to his former team, the Penguins.
Yesterday, The Athletic’s Peter Baugh posted a deep dive into the decades-long close relationship between Sullivan and his assistants, David Quinn and Joe Sacco, both of whom have also been NHL head coaches.

►UPDATE: BU’s other co-captain from last season, Shane Lachance, who had been on the Devils initial roster, has now been assigned to AHL Utica.
Shane Lachance may not be starting the season in New Jersey, but he’s quickly proving to be one to watch. The 22-year-old winger made a strong impression throughout training camp and the preseason, showcasing a relentless mix of effort, size, and physicality that briefly earned him a spot on the New Jersey Devils’ 2025–26 opening night roster.
With his combination of size, leadership, and work ethic, Lachance represents exactly the kind of player who could make a real impact when his next opportunity in New Jersey arrives.

The Athletic reports that Jack Eichel has a new contract with the Golden Knights:
The Vegas Golden Knights and star center Jack Eichel are finalizing an eight-year, $108 million contract extension ($13.5 million AAV), league sources told The Athletic on Wednesday.
Eichel, who could have become a free agent on July 1, now will become the highest-paid player in Vegas’ franchise history, topping the mark set by Mitch Marner in July when he signed an eight-year, $96 million deal ($12 million AAV).

Following his 63-point rookie season and finishing second to Lane Hutson for the Calder Trophy, Macklin Celebrini will be an assistant captain for the Sharks this season.
►Sportsnet.ca's Elliotte Friedman reports on the status of contract extension talks between Lane Hutson and the Canadiens.
I believe Lane Hutson wanted to sign before the season. I believe that after several false starts, things progressed to a point where a deal was possible. There was signing-bonus structure. According to several sources, the Canadiens were slightly below 8 x $9M, including some deferral for a slight break on the cap hit. As several Montreal reporters have said/written, the organization pitched Hutson’s representatives on a Canadian RCA, which many players use to soften this country’s tax burden. Hutson’s representatives were above the $72M (not ridiculously), but disagreed philosophically on deferral and the RCA. So, we’re at a stalemate until everyone cools down, because there’s a lot of disappointment this didn’t close. It hasn’t changed that the Canadiens like Hutson and he wants to be there.
