Terriers
dropped a 4-1 decision to #4 BC at Agganis Arena, dropping their record to
12-12-8 overall and 9-8-5 in Hockey East. The defeat leaves BU in a sixth place tie
with Providence going into the final regular-season series against
Northeastern.
To earn home
ice in the conference quarterfinals, BU will need to sweep the Huskies while
red-hot UConn loses its final game against Lowell. Terriers will need at least
one point in the final series to avoid missing the playoffs.
While the
Terriers had a 31-29 shot advantage, the Eagles had more grade A chances and
capitalized on them to build a 3-0 lead on goals by Alex Newhook (1st
period), Connor Moore (2nd) and David Cotton (3rd).
BU finally
got a puck past Spencer Knight at 8:52 of the third period when Captain Patrick
Curry redirected a David Farrance power-play blast.

#8 Terriers’
hopes for a conference title were dashed as Maine defeated BU, 2-1, for a
two-game sweep of the quarterfinal series. BU finishes the season with a 24-8-4
record.
The Black
Bears scored a power play goal in the first period and then added a second
tally early in the second period. BU put 28 shots on the Maine goal, but were
unable to beat Carly Jackson until Julia Nearis scored late in the third,
assisted by Alex Allan and Abbey Stanley. BU pulled goalie Corinne Schroeder (32
saves) in the final minute, but couldn’t produce an equalizer.
