2015:
Danny O’Regan’s overtime goal gave #2 BU a 3-2 win against Yale in the
NCAA regional semifinal in Manchester, N.H.
The right wing from Needham, a second-generation Terrier, pounced on the
rebound of Jack Eichel’s shot from the point and fired it past Yale’s Alex Lyon
to send the Terriers to the regional final.
BU had trailed the Bulldogs, 1-0, heading into the third period. Ahti
Oksanen snapped home the rebound of a Cason Hohmann shot to even the score.
Three minutes later Evan Rodrigues wired a shot from the left circle to put BU ahead.
Yale’s Frank DiChiara beat Matt O’Connor (19 saves) for a 2-2 tie, setting the
stage for O’Regan’s heroics.

1997: BU defeated defending
national champion and heavily favored Michigan, 3-2, in the NCAA regional
semifinal in Milwaukee. The win avenged a defeat by the Wolverines a year
earlier, also in a regional semifinal. Terriers overcame a 1-0 Michigan lead
with three scores in the middle period. Greg Quebec connected from the high
slot to tie the score. Five minutes later, Chris Heron’s sharp angle shot beat
Marty Turco. Then, Tommi Degerman rapped home Chris Drury’s pass from behind
the goal line. BU maintained the two-goal edge until the final minute of regulation
when Brendan Morrison scored an extra-attacker goal. But Michigan would get no
closer. Michel Larocque stopped 18 Wolverine shots for his seventh consecutive
win in goal. The victory sent BU to the NCAA title game for the 9th
time.
1993: A quick start with Mike Bavis scoring in the game's first minute sent #3-ranked BU to a 4-1 win against Northern Michigan in the NCAA regional. Steve Thornton's goal doubled the lead after one. The teams traded goals in the second period with David Sacco--a repeat All-American that season--notching his 25th. Jay Pandolfo added an empty-netter to close the scoring. Derek Herlofsky stopped 27 of 28 NMU shots to improve to 11-1-0 in his last 12 starts.

Senior captain Patrick Curry has signed a two-year contract with the Detroit Red Wings' AHL affiliate, Grand Rapids. Curry led BU in goals this season with 19. His 32 points brought his four-year total to 79. Earlier this month, Curry was named Hockey East's top defensive forward.
Curry joins draft picks Kasper Kotkansalo, Robert Mastrosimone and Ethan Phillips in the Detroit pipeline.
