Blanked

Terriers suffered a 4-0 shutout by Sacred Heart at Agganis Arena. The Pioneers held a slim 1-0 lead after two periods, then added three more goals in the third. Goalie Josh Benson turned aside all 36 BU shots.

BU poured 19 shots on Benson in the first period, but the only tally was Austin McIlmurray’s power play goal at the 10:10 mark. Strong goaltending by Sam Tucker kept the score close, making saves on several grade A chances by the Pioneer.

After a scoreless second period, SHU maintained the one-goal margin until Jason Cotton and Ryan Steele scored in a 70-second span midway through the third period. Vito Bavaro’s power play goal in the final minute closed out the scoring.

Commenting on the stinging defeat, BU head coach Albie O’Connell said, “It was about as bad as it’s been since I’ve been here.”

Captain Patrick Curry added, ““I felt like we might have overlooked our opponent. There were certain points where we carried the play. I felt like we never really took that next step to really taking over the game.”

Shlaine had a huge weekend in front of a myriad of NHL scouts. He has extremely good hands and it showed in a major way as he found the score sheet early and often. His first step should get better as he gets more lower-body strength. He got back and was on the right side of the puck a lot, even in a lopsided game.

Looking back
Charlie Coyle scored his fifth goal and assisted on two others in the Bruins 8-1 rout of Montreal.

Jordan Greenway scored his third goal on a breakaway in Minnesota's 3-2 win against the Devils.
