One-game suspension for O'Connell

Head Coach Albie O’Connell has been suspended one game by Hockey East, resulting from behavior following Saturday night’s BU loss to UMass. He will not be available for Friday night’s home game against Vermont and will return the next night. Associate Head Coach Paul Pearl is expected to lead the team on Friday.

In a statement, O’Connell said: “My postgame conduct on Saturday was regrettable and I will learn from this mistake. I respect the decision of Commissioner Bertagna and I am certainly apologetic for my actions.”

College Hockey News reported via a source that the conduct involved a “hostile interaction with a UMass staffer,” following the post-game press conference.

Goalie Sam Tucker, captain Patrick Curry and junior David Farrance were named to Hockey East’s Weekly list of Top Performers . Tucker stopped 85 shots in the two-game series with UMass, including 49 in the 4-3 win on Friday. Curry recorded a goal and two assists in the series while Farrance’s goal in the win was his sixth in the past three games and ninth of the season.

Eleven games into his sophomore season, Matt Quercia has become an important part of the Terrier offense. With four goals and four assists in eleven games, he’s been a pleasant surprise after registering just two points last season. The 6’3” forward from Andover, who has also contributed in the faceoff circle with a team-best .550 percentage on 60 draws, talked with New England Hockey Journal’s Jeff Cox about the summer work that has led to success. Quercia explained:
“Over the summer, I focused on shooting it more and working on my shot. I wanted to find different ways to put the puck in the net. I’ve always had the size and physicality, but I definitely want to start scoring more.”

Looking ahead
2020 recruit Luke Tuch talks about the NTDP U18s' success in the Five Nations tournament in Sweden and his own development in the NTDP program. The 6'2", 203 pound power forward has 12 points this season and had 23 last year with the U17s.

Looking back
David Warsofsky scored the game-winner and added a power-play assist in Wilkes Barre/Scranton’s 2-1 win against Lehigh Valley.

Former Terrier co-captain John McCarthy scored his second goal in the San Jose Barracuda’s 7-1 defeat of Tucson.
