Led by sophomore Dylan Peterson's hat trick and three-point efforts by sophomore Nick Zabaneh (G,2A) and freshman Ty Gallagher (3A), #16 Terriers flexed their offensive muscles in an 8-6 win against Merrimack. The victory at Agganis Arena before a crowd of 5,339, gave BU a split of the home-and-home series.
Senior Ty Amonte, who had been limited to two starts during the past two seasons, returned to the line-up and, just two minutes in, scored the game’s first goal and his first since March 22, 2019 in the Hockey East semifinals.
Freshman Brian Carrabes and Zabaneh each scored their first collegiate goal, while BU also received goals from Robert Mastrosimone and Wilmer Skoog—his third of the weekend. Mastrosimone, who was a team best +4, Skoog and junior Alex Vlasic also had two-point games. Altogether, 12 Terriers hit the scoresheet.
The Terriers found the net on their first three shots and led 4-1 after one and 6-3 after two. The Warriors, whose three power-play goals ended BU’s penalty-kill streak at 20 for this season, narrowed the deficit from three to two goals three times in the final period.

“We came out with a kind of attack-mentality of just playing the right way, getting the puck in behind their D, getting shots on net, and that’s how we kind of grew that lead,” said Head Coach Albie O'Connell.
He pointed out that getting [Amonte] "back in the line-up was huge for the team" and that "the guys kind of fed off his energy."
Commenting on the nine BU penalties leading to three power-play goals, O'Connell asserted "Penalties, we’re gonna have to be a little more disciplined, for sure. We just gotta be a little smarter away from the puck.”
-Peterson's hat trick equaled his three-goal output during the shortened 2020-21 season.
-Terriers went 0-for-4 on its power plays, but produced their second short-handed goal of the season.
-At the face off dot, BU was close to even with the Warriors through two periods, but the visitors dominated third-period draws and finished with a 41-32 advantage.
